Maple's fiasco
Join us June 18!
The unthinkable happened here: somehow, someway, Maple* was left outside for the entire night!!! Nelson came out of his room and saw her at the back door - with this look on her face.
You would not believe the accusations that flew in the aftermath - our family barely withstood the storm.
We all thought the other one had her. In our defense, she sleeps in our room, Nelson’s room or the living room. This house isn’t that big, but neither are our communication skills, apparently. The good news: she had a covered deck or a 2-car garage to sleep in.
However, she had no food. No water. And apparently no issues. She never even barked (that we know of). Her journey through the night was spiritual and a little cold, we believe.
When we realized that she didn’t even have her collar on, no tags at all, a new wave of accusations set in.
In the end, her only punishment for us was leaning into the couch, half turned away, a forlorn look on her face - until Nelson offered her a bite of toast. Then, without another word, all was forgiven.
*For the record, she had only one eye to begin with.
